THE POSITION OF THE SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES ON ABORTION

Abstract

On the twenty-fourth of June 2022, the Supreme Court of the United States issued its resounding ruling that the United States Constitution does not guarantee the right to abortion, terminating half a century of constitutional protection enjoyed by women wishing to get rid of their fetuses under a previous precedent. The Supreme Court did not prohibit abortion in its recent ruling, as it was viewed by some, nor did it say that it was permissible. This Paper explores the Supreme Court's “surprising” position on abortion by reviewing its background, explaining its grounds, and monitoring its legal consequences in a federal country consisting of many states, and following the common law system.
