Abstract:
The achievement of justice does not only depend on the conviction of the accused, but also extends to the care of persons whose rights have been violated.
These delegations have shown greater attention to the rights of those violated than previous international criminal Courts, where more emphasis was placed on the rights of the accused in previous Courts.
In order to ensure a fair trial, the authors of the Rome Convention tried to reach a balance between the rights of all parties related to the judicial proceedings before the Court. 'Victims' is one of the primary parties, whose rights have been taken into account under the Rome Statute and the Rules of Procedure and Evidence.
